Child safety alert issued in Port Jervis
January 11, 2008 - On the morning
of January 10, a black male, age
25 to 35, attempted to lure two Port Jervis City School
District students into his car. The Port Jervis City
Police Department is investigating the incidents,
which occurred in the City's lower Fourth Ward. In both
incidents, a man driving a "blue-green car" approached the students while they
were on their way to school. One girl was approached at
her bus stop; the other as she walked to school. Both
are middle school aged students.
Following the incidents,
Superintendent John Xanthis sent a letter home to
parents stressing recommending they reinforce safety
