Meghan Reilly selected to participate in West
Point Summer Leaders Seminar
 |
Port Jervis High School junior Meghan Reilly is one of 800
academically-gifted students invited to attend the 33rd Annual
United States Military Academy Summer Leaders Seminar at West
Point in June.
Ranked sixth in her class, Reilly was selected for the
leadership program from a nationwide applicant pool of
approximately 4,000 talented high school juniors. Like Reilly,
many of the students who qualified for the program, want to
attend the U. S. Military Academy after they graduate from high
school.
Reilly’s mother, Shari Hendrick, says her daughter is planning
to apply to the Academy this year for early admission. The
seminar is designed to give many of the nation’s aspiring
leaders a unique opportunity to enjoy the Academy’s academic
offerings and to see West Point’s leadership program in action
first hand.
Led by Academy cadets, Reilly and the other high school students
will participate in a concentrated week of academic, athletics,
and social experiences. Hands-on activities will include
academic workshops, military training, physical fitness training
and intramural athletics.
Reilly, who is a talented athlete, participates in two varsity
athletic programs at Port Jervis High School – girl’s volleyball
and softball. She is also a member of the National Honor
Society, Peer Leaders and DECA.
