Port Jervis High
School opens after police search building
The start of the school day at Port Jervis High
School was delayed April 10 as Deerpark Police Department and State Police investigated a bomb threat.
Students and staff were not permitted to enter the
building when they arrived at school Thursday. They
remained in the bleachers at Chase Field while police
and bomb-sniffing dogs conducted a thorough search of
the complex. No bomb or explosive materials were found.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., the police declared the
building safe and authorized the district to reopen the
high school. Police are continuing their investigation
of the incident.
