Summer 2009 Renovation Projects
This summer district maintenance
workers and contractors worked diligently to improve the quality
of our students' learning environment. The primary focus was at
the High School where six new baseball/softball dugouts were
built, nine wooden benches were added to the entrance way, and
the Library and two gymnasiums received needed attention.
Additionally, the terrazzo flooring in the High School hallways
- along with the corridors of ASK and Bicentennial Elementary
School and sections in the Middle School - were refinished.
Safety issues were addressed at the Middle School with the
installation of new exterior walkways and repaving of the
parking lot. The Middle School also received new basketball
hoops, fresh interior paint, and new carpeting in the Guidance
Office. Other improvements included: the installation of
new classroom safety locks and an intrusion alarm system at the
Route 209 complex, a wireless scoreboard at Glennette Field and
and a motorized, retractable batting cage at ASK Elementary
School.

Demolition of District Bus Garage
 |
|
The district's deteriorating bus garage, which was condemned
after sustaining irreparable flood damage in 2005, was leveled
Aug. 7. This photograph was taken half way through the
demolition process. Crews are now removing debris, much of which
will be recycled. Once the area is cleared, the lot will be
paved with stone to create a parking area for district buses.
The demolition project is part of the 2009-10 operating budget
approved by voters May 19. |
