ANNUAL BUDGET VOTE & SCHOOL BOARD
ELECTIONS

District
consolidates election polling locations
The Board of
Education consolidated the polling
locations for school district elections in the spring of 2011. The measure reduces the
number of school election districts from four to three, and
changes the geographic locations for the polling places.
Port Jervis School District residents now have three
locations to cast their votes: Port Jervis Middle School,
Port Jervis High School and Hamilton Bicentennial Elementary
School.
The decision to relocate the polling places to school buildings
was made to reduce future election costs and to comply with the
New York State Education law that requires each school election
district to include at least one schoolhouse.
After the 2012 election, the Port Jervis School District will be
required to rent new voting machines from the Orange County
Board of Elections. Having one less polling location will reduce
costs by reducing the number of voting machines and election
workers needed for the annual budget and school board election.
Please note: The following new polling places are only
