School District Budget Vote
Tuesday, May 18 Polls open: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The lengthy process of developing the budget for the 2010-2011 school year is now underway. The School Board will adopt a proposed budget at its April 22 meeting. A series of informational budget presentations will then be held throughout the community to provide taxpayers with detailed information about the proposed budget prior the May 6 Budget Hearing. Please check back for the budget presentation dates and locations.

BUDGET DEVELOPMENT CALENDAR

October 2009
• Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents provide budget builders
(principals, department chairpersons, etc.) with preliminary budget documents.

November 2009
• Administration presents 2010-2011 budget calendar and budget development
procedures to Board of Education for adoption.

December 2009
• Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents meet with district budget
builders to discuss budget needs.

January 7, 2010
• 7:30 p.m. - Board of Education Meeting
High School Cafeteria
Present 2010-11 budget forecast and budget assumptions to the School Board.

January 2010
• Administration drafts 2008-2009 budget

Thursday, March 4
• 7:30 p.m.   - Present Preliminary Budget
                           Board of Education Meeting, High School Cafeteria
Present preliminary 2010-2011 budget in all categories - operations and
maintenance, transportation, general support, debt service, employee benefits,
instructional and special education.

Monday, April 19
• Deadline for candidates to file petition for Board of Education nomination

Thursday, April 22
• 7:30 p.m.   - ADOPTION OF BUDGET
                           Board of Education Meeting, High School Cafeteria

Friday, April 23
• Property Tax Report Card must be submitted to State Education
Department & sent to local newspapers.

Mid-April to Mid-May
• Community Budget Presentations, Dates & locations to be announced

Friday, April 27
• Make budget statement available to the public.

Tuesday, May 6
• 7:30 p.m. - PUBLIC BUDGET HEARING
High School Cafeteria

Friday, May 7
• Budget notice/newsletter is mailed to taxpayers

Tuesday, May 18
• 6 a.m. to - BUDGET VOTE AND SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS
