Project Details
Proposition 1:
Building
Renovation Project
The proposed $14.6 million capital project
would allow the district to address the following school safety,
security & energy efficiency needs:
Port Jervis High School/Anna S. Kuhl
Elementary School

Health,
safety & security:
Upgrade emergency exit lighting, replace building
ventilators, and improve school security by adding secure
vestibule entrances, elevate chimney to eliminate flue
gases, replace select sections of heating piping, replace
metal covers on finned tube, replace select plumbing
fixtures, replace one of the boilers and make other boiler
upgrades, and install Voice over Internet Protocol
(technology needed to make voice calls using a broadband
Internet connection).

School safety & building integrity:
Replace classroom windows - many of which leak - with a tempered glass unit that
contains a New York State Education Department approved emergency classroom exit.
The new
units would also be more energy efficient. Replace interior & exterior doors.

Program/facility upgrades:
Renovate High School science room, replace student lockers,
renovate High School guidance offices.

Bicentennial Elementary School

safety/building security:

contains a New York State Education Department approved emergency classroom exit.
The new
units would also be more energy efficient. Replace public address system; upgrade emergency exit lighting; improve school security by adding secure
vestibule entrances; and install Voice over Internet

broadband Internet connection).

Upgrade automation system for heating/ventilation/air
conditioning.
Port Jervis Middle
School

Health,
safety & security:
Upgrade emergency exit lighting; make safety-related
upgrades to electric room including installation of new
walls/doors, ventilation and drip pan; make needed repairs
to rooftop heating/ventilation/air conditioning; replace
condensate (steam heating system) piping and insulation; and
install Voice over Internet Protocol (technology needed to
make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection).

Building integrity:
Complete needed exterior masonry
re-pointing and repairs.
