FREE DRIVERS
EDUCATION CLASS
As part of its ongoing effort to
provide students with safe driving skills, the district is
offering a free drivers education class this summer to Port
Jervis High School students. Classes will be held beginning July
1 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Instruction
will alternative every other day between classroom work and
driver's training.
The class fulfills the mandatory 5-hour pre-certification
course junior drivers are
required to take before their road test. The course also meets
the requirements for defensive driving, reduction of points, and
insurance reduction. Students who complete the course will also
earn a half credit toward their High School diploma. In order to
meet the course requirements, attendance is required.
To participate, students must be 16
years or older and have a valid learners permit prior to July 1.
Seniors have first priority, followed by juniors, then
sophomores and freshmen.
