Welcome to Port Jervis High School

A message from Principal Andrew Marotta

Dear Students, Parents, and Friends of Port Jervis HS,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year. We are so excited to kick this year off! There is a lot happening in and around school and I will begin with our brand new outdoor learning center in our courtyard. Through the generous donation of Dr. Larry Taylor and the hard back-breaking work of several staff and students, we have a beautiful new pond that will have different species of fish, frogs, turtles, etc for our students to study. There is also a soothing sound of running water from the waterfall in the pond as well as the spill bowls donated by the senior class. This area will be great for our students!

While the class of 2017 is off to college, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our freshmen, the class of 2021, and their families. I urge all of you to get involved at school in any of our sports, clubs, and activities. Kids who are invested in their school do better in school!

We’ve made the leap! My partners and I have joined the social media world and we are now on Twitter. Follow us at @pjhs_principals #portpride. We will share news and information through Twitter so we invite you to get on board.

I look forward to meeting many of you during the first few weeks of school and at our Open House being held on Thursday, September 22nd. Fall sports are up and running and school starts on Tuesday, September 6th, 2016. Be ready and be focused. This is a marathon not a sprint and the staff and I are ready for you. Are you ready for PJHS? Bring your best each and every day and you will be successful. Think about this: there are two types of lions out there: a lion in the zoo and a lion in the jungle. Which one are you? Come to PJHS ready to learn with the spirit and energy of the lion in the jungle!

Go Port!
