The
magic of Aida is coming to Port Jervis stage, March 19-21
The
Tony award-winning rock musical, Aida, is coming to Port
Jervis High School March 19-21 for three performances.
Set along the banks of the Nile
in ancient Egypt, Aida is the tragic love story of a
captive slave princess and an Egyptian prince whose love
transcends time and cultural barriers. The beautiful musical
score, created by Elton John and Tim Rice, uses music ranging
from reggae and gospel to zealous rock ballads to express the
characters' emotions and celebrate their diversity.
Evening
performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 19 and
Saturday, March 20. An afternoon matinee is scheduled for
Sunday, March 21 at 2 p.m.
The general admission price is $12. The cost for
specially-priced student and senior citizen tickets is $10.
Tickets can be reserved by calling the Port Jervis High School
Ticket Line at 845-858-3122. Tickets will also be sold at the
door.
The Port Jervis
performance of Aida is directed by High School music teacher
Alvera Sylvester.
