collaboration, coordination, case management, guidance
curriculum, and program evaluation are the primary delivery
methods in an effective school counseling program. The purpose
of a counseling program in a school setting is to promote and
enhance the learning process.

New York
State Graduation Requirements |
What are my graduation
requirements? Students are responsible for knowing what courses
are needed for graduation. Guidance Counselors will assist you in
making wise course selections, but ultimately, the decision to take,
or not take a course, rests with you and your parents. By
2008, all students will be required to get a Regents diploma. The
following chart explains passing
requirements for the classes of 2006-2008, as the local diploma
is phased out.

College
Bound Student Athletes |
High School athletes: Are
you interested in competing at the college level? If so, it is
recommended that you register with the National College Athletic
Association, NCAA, the beginning of your junior year.
The NCAA is an association founded to deal with athletic
competition on a collegiate level. The NCAA Initial
Eligibility Clearinghouse works with the NCAA to determine a
student's eligibility for athletic participation his/her first year
of college. Students who want to participate in Division I, II and
III athletics their first year of college MUST register with the
clearinghouse.
Registration steps - To register, student athletes or their
parents should visit
www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. Located on the site is the Guide for
College-Bound Student Athletes, which contains important information
including eligibility requirements, recruiting, and the scholarship.
The required Student Release Form is included in the guide. Three
copies of the form are required
Two copies should be given to Mrs. Moraza (in Guidance) immediately after
you completed the application. Mrs. Moraza will send Copy 1 along
with your transcript to the NCAA. Copy 2 is sent to the NCAA after
you graduate from high school. Copy 3 is for your records. Payment
to the NCAA should be made as directed on the form. Registration is
required the beginning of your junior year, as the transcript must
contain records of the first three years of high school.
