Thanksgiving 2009
Classroom celebrations
ASK Elementary School students celebrated Thanksgiving by holding traditional feasts
and dressing in festive costumes.
Kindergarten Feast
All 150 students from the seven kindergarten classes
gathered together for a Thanksgiving feast. The students
were decked out in Native American and Pilgrim garb. The
children and teachers dined on a cornucopia of snacks
including various kinds of fresh fruits, popcorn, a variety
of homemade muffins and juice. Pictured is the never ending
table, and several friends enjoying the celebration!
Molly's Pilgrim
Nicole
Waligroski's third grade class learned it took all kinds of
Pilgrims to make a Thanksgiving from the literature unit on
the classic novel Molly's Pilgrim. Three students are
pictured proudly displaying the Pilgrim projects they
created at home with their families.
Delicious
science lesson
Kindergarteners
in Dawn Buzzelli’s class recently had a very educational and
delicious science lesson. The students started out by
tasting buttermilk. They then compared and contrasted the
different states of matter by making homemade butter.
Finally, they made wonderful homemade muffins to go with
their fresh butter.

Students in
Maura Brady-Wilson and Mary Grace Carlton’s third grade
class recently made Pilgrim Hat Cookies. After making and
enjoying their cookie, each student wrote and typed a “How
To” paragraph about the experience. One of the students is
pictured holding the Pilgrim Hat Cookie. Here is his recipe
for those who might want make this delicious treat at home:
"First, you have to put a toothpick in a marshmallow. Then,
you have to melt chocolate and then you dip the marshmallow
in the chocolate until it is covered. Next, you take the
toothpick out and make the chocolate go onto the back of a
fudge striped cookie. After that, you let it cool. Then, you
have to draw a buckle out of icing. Last, you enjoy your
Pilgrim Hat Cookie!"
