ASK Students Love the Outdoor Club of Port Jervis

ASK Students Raise Money, Learn about the Outdoors

June 12, 2017 - ASK, Port Jervis, NY - The third grades at Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School recently held a walk-a-thon to benefit The Outdoor Club of Port Jervis.

The purpose of the walk-a-thon was not only to promote the benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle, but also to teach the children the importance of community service and that no one is too young to make a difference.

The Outdoor Club was chosen as the beneficiary because its members are the stewards of the city wide trail system, and it’s mission is “To promote the outdoors in the Port Jervis region in all respects and to help develop and to maintain the Port Jervis Watershed Park, City-Wide Trail System in a sustainable and ecologically friendly manner and to hold events and educational programming.”

Mr. James Hendry from the club came to speak to the students and thank them for all of their hard work. Collectively the students raised $2,167.81 which is an incredible accomplishment.

Way to go third graders!
